Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary (Lake Victoria)

Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary is an island sanctuary in Uganda, dedicated to the care of orphaned eastern chimpanzees that have been rescued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. Many of the chimpanzees were rescued from poachers and would be unlikely to survive reintroduction to the wild.

Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary is a 100-acre safe haven on Lake Victoria, sheltering over 50 rescued and orphaned chimpanzees. Located just 27 km (a 45-minute speedboat ride) southeast of Entebbe, it offers visitors the unique opportunity to safely observe and interact with these primates while supporting vital conservation efforts.
