Mabira Forest Reserve is one of Uganda’s largest surviving natural forests, located between Lugazi and Jinja along the Kampala–Jinja Highway, about 54 km east of Kampala. Spanning over 300 square kilometers, this tropical rainforest is a biodiversity hotspot and a vital eco-tourism destination.
It is managed by the National Forestry Authority (NFA) and is an important conservation area that supports ecological balance, wildlife, and tourism.
Mabira Central Forest Reserve is a lush, 306-square-kilometer tropical rainforest located 54 km from Kampala and 26 km from Jinja along the Kampala-Jinja highway. Visitors highly rate its accessibility, dense canopy, and rich biodiversity, making it a perfect quick escape or stopover.
