Budongo Forest Reserve is one of the most biologically diverse and ecologically significant tropical rainforests in East Africa. Located in western Uganda, within the Masindi District, it forms part of the Murchison Falls Conservation Area (MFCA). It is managed by the National Forestry Authority (NFA) and covers an area of approximately 825 square kilometers.
Budongo Forest Reserve is a sprawling 825-sq-km tropical rainforest located on the escarpment northeast of Lake Albert in the Masindi District. Situated just a 3- to 4-hour drive northwest of Kampala and serving as a southern gateway to Murchison Falls National Park, it is famous for hosting East Africa’s largest mahogany trees and the country’s largest chimpanzee population.
